Expert bio

Marc Humbert, MD, PhD, is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the Université Paris-Saclay in Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, France. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he is Director of the French Referral Centre for Pulmonary Hypertension, Hôpital Bicêtre, Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris, France and Vice-Coordinator of the European Reference Network ERN-LUNG.

Along with membership to several scientific councils and institutes, Prof. Humbert is Director of the INSERM Unit "Pulmonary Hypertension: Pathophysiology and Innovative Therapies". He was the Chief Editor of the European Respiratory Journal from 2013 to 2017 (he is now the Section Editor in charge of pulmonary vascular diseases).

He has received several distinctions including the Cournand Lecture Award from the European Respiratory Society (2006), the Descartes-Huygens Award from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (2009) the Rare Disease Award from the Fondation Maladies Rares (2017), and the ERS Award for Lifetime Achievement in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (2018).
